This jar contains clay and water. After the shake test, you see the clay sticks to the jar on the top and will crack slightly once it starts to dry. That is a good way to tell.

The jar test: put the mixture you are about to purchase (that you are hoping is clay) in a jar and shake it up. If the mixture falls to the bottom, it's silt, and you're not taking it!
